Read if you like: I don’t even know.
I went into this unfamiliar with Un-Su Kim before I read this, but I’ll certainly read more of his work moving forward. I love Mr. Kong and his often snarky thoughts about Cabinet 13 and Professor Kwon and his coworkers. I also just loved the stories of the symptomers which were sometimes silly and absurd and at other times quite sad.
As I don’t know Korean, I read Sean Lin Halbert’s translation and it’s just absolutely gorgeous. I feel as though not enough attention is paid to the art of translating.
This book’s a little bit of everything; a little sci-fi, a tad fantasy, a bit thriller, with some mystery and a love story! I’d say it’s probably not for everyone as it gets odd, but if you’re feeling adventurous, I highly recommend it.
