‘Middlemarch’

Read if you like: Jane Austen, The Brontës,
This was a feat and I’m impressed with myself. You might think that reading an 800+ page book would be a slog, but Eliot kept me enthralled the entire time I always cared about all the storylines and what was going on with who.
Every word felt like it was meant be there, which I can’t even say for every book under 300 pages. The fact that everything Eliot writes furthers the plot cements this book as a classic and George Eliot of one of the greats.
Obviously, Dorothea and Will were my favorites. Rosamund SUUUUUCCCCKS!! I’m all for women who know how to get what they want –especially at a time where that was truly a challenge– but after marrying Lydgate everything she did drove me insane. I liked this a lot and found myself constantly surprised by the grip of these provincial lives on me.
